Twenty six Lohans traveled to San Diego to participate in the kick-off for the 2010 International Chinese Martial Arts Championship (ICMAC) which was the first gathering of the East and West Coast Shaolin schools. Even though the trip from Las Vegas to San Diego was through rainstorms, fog, blizzards, slush and hail, we all made it safely with no damage done to the securely wrapped lions and drum.

(Left to Right) FRONT ROW: Sifu Todd Takeuchi, Kate, Joey-Ross, Billie Ann, Renee, Buddha-Jay, EZ BACK ROW: Jett, New, Carlos, Sigong Steven Baugh, Lance, Keoni

The Lions did a great job for the opening ceremony and again with the Masters demonstration at the end of the first day. Calexico Lohans from our sister school, “Temple of the Sun Martial Arts Academy” in California, joined us in a fast improvisation which added flair to our regular routine and can be seen on our website “lvlohans.org” then clicking on the link “You Tube-videos”.

Nine of our Lohans competed… and all of them came away with medals; which included gold, silver and bronze… some of them winning in more than one event.

Sifu Nick Scrima from Florida did a fabulous and successful job in putting on this long-awaited collaboration.

Medalists:
Kate Andaya: Women’s Sword and Shield (SILVER)
Joey-Ross DeChavez: Sparring (GOLD, SILVER), Mantis Form (Bronze)

Will keep you posted on updates…

Blogs: The annual camping trip for the Lohans was a great experience for the students. We camped at Cave Lake outside of Ely… the weather was beautiful and we did get to eat fish caught by the few lucky ones… enough to feed us all… the only tiresome thing was the drive… 4 and a half hours…

On Tuesday July 28th… the school played host to 35 day campers (ages 6 thru 11) on a field trip with the City of Las Vegas… We entertained and demonstrated for 2 hours to a very enthusiastic group… they even got to participate in a few basic routines for kids…

Lots of Leo birthdays this month…
August 8 – Saturday – Blue Jay’s wife Shanya is celebrating her birthday with a bash at her place… we’ll have to squeeze in our wishes in between the tournament schedule…

August 15 – Saturday, we’ll be celebrating our school mascot (Baby Xavier) 2nd birthday at Dashi’s place… should be fun…

All for now…

Re:	RIVAL SCHOOLS
BREAK DANCE COMPETITION
FUND RAISER for Lohan School of Shaolin

Where:	China Town Plaza Showroom
When:	Friday, April 17th
Time:	3PM to 10PM
Price:	$5.00

The Kung Fu students from the Lohan School of Shaolin are putting on a fundraiser for the school with an event that will feature “Kung Fu & Break Dancing” competition and demonstration at the China Town Plaza Showroom (upstairs) on April 17th from 3PM to 10PM.

The boys have been working with several outreach programs in various schools including UNLV, CSN, community centers and the Boys and Girls club. Some of the High Schools that will be competing are Sierra Vista, Durango, Bonanza, A-Tech, Liberty, Spring Valley. It is part of our efforts with the Gang Task Force and NV Youth Alliance to keep the kids off the streets and give them an outlet for their high energy and talents.

Please try to cover this as I think it’s a great human interest story that the public should be made aware of. We are expecting 300 (plus) students parents and teachers. Many enthusiasts from California and Utah are also coming to support this event.
